in iPhone app news…
I can get my email, I can sync my contacts (I sync with Google contacts) but the one thing I’ve been struggling with on the iPhone is calendaring. I’m not prepared to use a calendar app that requires me to plug in and sync as I don’t sync often enough for that to be practical.
I already sync Exchange with Google calendar, but up till now the only way to get Google Calendar on the iPhone was to use the web interface, which is not ideal, slow and almost impossible to add things to.
But today I found a solution:

It syncs (over the web) with your Google calendar, and downloads all your data to the iPhone so you have a local calendar application you can use easily (note: it isn’t the iPhone calendar application, but its pretty good).
It also of course brings all your google calendar stuff (I share calendars, so I get those too).
The free version only syncs one way (Google -> iPhone) but the paid version (£5.99) syncs both ways. Have just been testing it – can now add something to my iPhone calendar and have it appear in my Exchange calendar on my desk within minutes.
I’m expecting Google to release a nice calendar app anytime, but in the meantime this suits me perfectly!

I've been asked a few times about the Google/Exchange sync. So here are the details:

I knew this would happen evntually - Google have release a direct Calendar sync tool:

(only good if you don't already have an Exchange ActiveSync set up for your email as you can only have one)
